A collective is a family act
The Auanders are back on TEXT(US)
Out July 24th, the new album supported by MiBACT and SIAE under the “Per Chi Crea” program
The highly anticipated Auanders’ second album will be out on July 24th. The modular band was conceived as an inside all-star act for the Italian label Auand around 10 years ago. The idea became real on a New York stage, back in 2011, when celebrating the first decade of the label. Since then, the band has played in several Italian venues, with an ever-changing lineup and repertoire. This new experience started from a one-week residency at Cicaleto in Arezzo, Italy – recorded by the masterful Stefano Bechini and mixed by himself and Francesco Ponticelli.
While the work of composition, residency and recording has been supported by MiBACT and SIAE under the “Per Chi Crea” program, everything related to writing and arranging the original tracks has been commissioned to some of the most active members of the Auand Family. The 10-tet also features special guests such as Francesco Bearzatti on clarinet and Sara Battaglini on vocals.
Including 8 tracks in the CD version and 6 in the LP (available in a few weeks), the album’s main theme plays around the meaning of “collective”, a sense of community that has always informed any activity around Auand. The title comes from a stunning writing by Elena Chiattelli: TEXT(US), which is a pun on “Textus” (weaving, in Latin), aptly highlighting the idea of commitment the label has had since the beginning. But it’s also a hint at “Text Us”: an invitation to keep in touch and join them in this experience – another founding element in Auand’s 2-decade story.
Auand musicians are usually called “Auand Family” for a reason, as the label founder and owner, Marco Valente, recalls: «Auand has always been family to us: a group of people in the first place. People who share a vision and a goal: spreading beauty, avoiding the easy win in the contemporary music business, push the boundaries while innovating sounds as well as the composition process. Recently, we can all see an extremely lively Italian scene. We’re proud to think Auand is a good picture of it.».
